In a recent Women's Health magazine article titled, What is a stem cell, exactly?, the words “superpowers” and “mini powerhouses” are used to describe the endless and life-changing capabilities of stem cells.
At Silene Biotech, we frequently hear from individuals that the idea of stem cell preservation is ahead of its time. Why is that? It's partly due to the fact that stem cell knowledge has yet to become mainstream. Most people have heard of stem cells, but very few understand their function or are even aware of their regenerative properties - meaning they have the power to heal the body and aid in combating serious illnesses or diseases. Therefore, we are faced with the challenge of educating and spreading the word about all the exciting progress occurring NOW in stem cell research.
Did you know? The great potential of stem cells has led to:
- More than 900 companies worldwide focused on regenerative medicine initiatives.
- Thousands of clinical trials underway in laboratories across the globe.
- 26% increase in research spending (since 2014) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support stem cell therapy advancements.
We thank Women’s Health magazine for helping us to inform readers on stem cells' potential to significantly improve one's quality of life. In the article, Andrew McMahon, PhD, Director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at the University of Southern California states, “this potential to repair and restore [with stem cells] has put conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS), arthritis, heart damage, and Alzheimer’s squarely in researchers’ sights. Treatments for these disorders could be used on patients within 10 years, possibly even sooner to ease arthritis pain or regrow cartilage.” You can read the article in full here.
